Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Beautisnap ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (beautisnap.app) and the Beautisnap application.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

Cookies can be "persistent" or "session" cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, while session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

2. Our Approach to Cookies

We do not use cookies on our website.

The beautisnap.app website is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages. We have intentionally chosen not to implement:

  • Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Marketing or advertising cookies
  • Social media cookies
  • Personalization cookies
  • Any other tracking technologies

This means your browsing activity on our website is not tracked, monitored, or stored by us.

3. Third-Party Cookies

3.1 GitHub Pages

Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which is operated by GitHub, Inc. GitHub may collect technical information as part of their hosting service, but they do not use cookies for analytics or tracking on GitHub Pages sites. For more information about GitHub's data practices, please refer to GitHub's Privacy Statement.

3.2 Distribution Platforms

Purchases and distribution via third-party platforms are currently disabled since the product is provided as a free release. When downloads are provided through external platforms, those platforms may use cookies or similar technologies for processing and analytics. For the latest download location and official releases, please refer to our GitHub Releases page.

4. Beautisnap Application

The Beautisnap macOS application does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.

4.1 Application Behavior

The Beautisnap application:

  • Operates entirely locally on your device
  • Does not transmit data to external servers by default
  • Does not track your usage or behavior
  • Stores preferences locally using macOS standard UserDefaults (not cookies)

4.2 License Verification

License verification and purchase-related functionality are currently disabled while we provide the product as a free release. If license checks or purchase flows are used in the future, they will involve communication with external services provided by the chosen distribution platform and will be documented accordingly.

Any application settings or preferences are stored locally on your Mac and are not accessible to us or any third parties.

5. Local Storage

Our website may use browser local storage to save your theme preference (light or dark mode) for a better user experience. This information:

  • Stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers
  • Is not used for tracking or analytics
  • Can be cleared at any time through your browser settings
  • Does not contain any personal or identifying information

6. Your Cookie Choices

Since we do not use cookies on our website, there are no cookie preferences to manage for beautisnap.app. However, you can manage cookies in your browser settings:

Browser Controls

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to:

  • Block all cookies
  • Block third-party cookies only
  • Delete cookies when you close your browser
  • Accept cookies from specific websites

Please note that blocking cookies may affect your experience on third-party websites used for distribution or purchases.

Browser-Specific Instructions

To manage cookies in your browser, please refer to:

7. Do Not Track Signals

Since we do not track users or use analytics on our website, we respect all Do Not Track (DNT) signals by default. Our website does not alter its behavior based on DNT settings because we don't track users in the first place.

8. GDPR Compliance

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive (Cookie Law), websites must:

  • Inform users about cookies before they are placed
  • Obtain user consent for non-essential cookies
  • Provide users with control over cookies

Since we do not use any cookies on our website, no consent mechanism is necessary. This approach ensures full compliance with GDPR and ePrivacy Directive requirements.

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

If we decide to use cookies in the future, we will:

  • Update this Cookie Policy with detailed information about the cookies we use
  • Implement a cookie consent mechanism where required by law
  • Notify users through our website and via email to existing customers
  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this policy

We recommend reviewing this Cookie Policy periodically for any changes.
